But there are others, too, among them 'The Marriage of Figaro', in which Count Almaviva spends three and a half acts plotting (âm mưu) to exercise (thực hiện) his droit du seigneur (or “right of the lord”) over the maid (người hầu) Susanna on her wedding night—only to repent (ăn năn) halfway through the finale.

“You’re making me great again down there,” President Trump whispered (thì thầm) into her ear. “Perhaps I’ll drop by your suite at 4:00 a.m.” Unsure what to say, Kaitlyn tried to smile and nodded a little. After circulating (lưu thông) with the guests, the president returned to give her a good-bye kiss, whispering, “’Droit de seigneur,’ you know.”

And it is amazing that, after two centuries of men treating (đối xử) the political landscape (bối cảnh chính trị) here as a droit du seigneur playground, that the one ensnared (gài bẫy) in an ethics investigation (điều tra đạo đức) about the new rules enacted (ban hành) last year on sexual harassment (quấy rối tình dục) — barring (cấm) lawmakers (nhà lập pháp) from having sexual relationships with staffers — is a woman.
