"My kingdom for a horse" nghĩa là gì?

"My kingdom for a horse" = đổi vương quốc lấy một con ngựa -> nghĩa là bạn sẵn sàng đánh đổi/cho đi tất cả thứ bạn có để đổi lấy thứ bạn cần. Cụm từ xuất phát từ vở "Richard III" của Shakespeare, khi vị vua này than vãn rằng vì thiếu ngựa mà ông ta để thua trận chiến.
Ví dụ
Republicans (Đảng Cộng hòa) want to save their wealthy donors - Democrats (Đảng Dân chủ) want to save lives. When push came to shove (xô đẩy), Richard III chose to trade his kingdom for a horse.
“A horse! A horse! My kingdom for a horse!” cries the titular (có địa vị) character of William Shakespeare’s drama “Richard III." According to Shakespeare, King Richard III was willing to give up his kingdom for a horse. If you remember the story, you know that he lost his horse in battle and needed another to escape and save his life. Too bad for Richard, he lost his life in the battle.
OK, “spoiler alert.” Having mentioned “wealth” — this “wealth” unfortunately appears to be a priority over “health” for some in our nation. “A horse, a horse, my kingdom for a horse!” (Shakespeare quote) shows what circumstances do to wealth. My grandma used to say, “I shall not take any money with me to my grave.” Of course! Now, have a good look and listen to “protesters” (người biểu tình) against health protecting measures (biện pháp bảo vệ). What does it tell you about the “protesters’” values? About their “freedom?”
