"Beyond the pale" nghĩa là gì?

"Beyond the pale" có pale là cái hàng rào, cọc rào -> cụm từ này nghĩa là quá giới hạn cho phép, không chấp nhận được, không hợp pháp/khuôn phép.

Vice President Mike Pence says it is “beyond the pale” that the pastor (mục sư) of a Virginia church was issued a criminal citation (trát hầu tòa) for having 16 people at a Palm Sunday service that authorities (chính quyền) claim violated the state's coronavirus restrictions.
“If you do take California, you’ve got Gavin Newsom coming up with a budget here recently and what it does is it slashes funding (cắt giảm ngân sách) for schools, health spending, parks, childcare, and it is just beyond the pale [that] the governor is demanding $1 trillion from the federal government,” Payne said.
According to a careful study by the Committee to Protect Journalists, Donald Trump started referring to the press as “the enemy of the people” about three years ago. It’s a vile (ghê tởm) term, with a dangerous and dehumanizing (phi nhân tính) history, used during the French and Russian Revolutions, among other times, to place people beyond the pale.
