“Not get a sniff of" nghĩa là gì?

“Not get a sniff of (something)” có từ sniff là hít, ngửi -> cụm từ này nghĩa là không đạt được thứ mình muốn hoặc thậm chí phần nhỏ nhất cũng không có luôn.

Ví dụ
Modi Government is keeping the cards close, media doesn't get a sniff of what's going on. 4 September, 2017.

The demo greets you with a quick bit of exposition (bài bình luận, sự phơi bày) about Tiko, an evil mastermind (người có trí tuệ bậc thầy) that wants to see the empire fall, and how you are among the defences aimed at stopping him. You don’t get a sniff of the campaign in the demo, but do get to dive into the various elements that the multiplayer has to offer.

Surveys of Britain’s favourite comedy – and indeed, Britain’s favourite anything – are 10 a penny; the more so in our click-bait era. The Radio Times ran one last August, which found to be the nation’s best-loved sitcom of the century so far. Now here comes , in which “comics reveal their favourite British TV comedy moments and characters” of all time. What’s new is that this is a poll of professional comedians, and so more insightful, we assume, than those vox-pop (phỏng vấn vỉa hè) efforts elsewhere. And so it is, to the degree that the sophisticate’s (người thời lưu) bete noire Mrs Brown’s Boys doesn’t get a sniff of glory. But beyond that, not so much.
