"A bone in (one's) leg" = cục xương trong chân -> nghĩa là viện cớ cho sự lười biếng/nhàn rỗi của mình.

Ví dụ
I’ve been fighting a losing battle with our company executive for years, it’s the old what do they need bigger and better monitors for they are just reading documents all day long. Then they complain about staff who are slow or go home with eyestrain (chứng mỏi mắt) or headaches, apparently it’s just a bone in their leg.

So, graduates, don’t get discouraged or underestimate your potential and your abilities. What someone else with your abilities can do, you can do. We sometimes like to think that people who have achieved greatness did so because they were geniuses (thiên tài). That gives us a bone in our leg. Most genius is just plain hard work.

As I have discussed previously, it is very common for neurodiverse children to be labelled as “naughty” or “difficult” when they are at school. It is not surprising then that they also suffer from assumptions and labels in the workplace. If as a dyspraxic (chứng khó phối hợp động tác) child you were told that your condition wasn’t real, or simply a bone in their leg you would of course be anxious as an employee that any prospective employer may view your condition in the same light.
