"More's the pity" nghĩa là tiếc nuối, thất vọng hoặc vô cùng xấu hổ (cách dùng cũ).

Ví dụ
More's the pity, I mean, because such a delicious bit deserves a longer life. I could weep over the early death of an epigram (lời chế nhạo) with a hearty spirit, which is second only to the grief I feel at a good story spoiled for relation's sake.

The only time he'd seen her out of her scrubs, she'd been in something else—more's the pity—namely maternity (cho bà bầu) clothes, generally made out of some... And during that entire nine-month span (quãng thời gian), he'd been even more enchanted by her than ever.

“It is not surprising that we should get some of the phrases that belong to the land, for we are seldom out of sight of it, twenty four hours at a time.”
“More's the pity, boy. A very little land ought to go a great way, with a seafaring man (thủy thủ). Now, if the truth were known, Master Western, I suppose there is more or less land all round your lake."
