''Under false pretenses'' nghĩa là gì?

"Under/On/By false pretenses" nghĩa là giả vờ là ai khác hoặc làm ra vẻ thế nào đó để đánh lừa; lừa đảo.
Ví dụ
“GPay persuaded customers to part with substantial sums of money to invest in cryptocurrency (tiền mã hóa) trading. This was nothing but a scam as GPay tricked their clients to use their online platform under false pretences and no customer has benefited as their investments have been lost.”
At best, the callers were dangerously blind to the true harm they could cause by calling the police under false pretenses. In reality, it's far more likely they knew exactly what they were doing when they called the police on harmless individuals while identifying the 'threat' as African-American.
Staff responded to the 100 block of Sullavans Road for a noise violation from loud music, to the 1300 block of Irvington Road for a three-vehicle traffic crash, to the 100 block of Kathy Drive for threats made to harm another, and to the 1400 block of Lumberlost Road for identity theft and fraud by obtaining funds under false pretenses.
