"Decide in favor of (someone or something)" nghĩa là xác định bên thắng, theo phe thắng thế hoặc bênh vực cho ai/bên nào.

The first premise (giả thuyết) appears to be uncontentious (không gây xung đột) if and only if “against the will of either party” is interpreted in the decision-for sense. The rough conditions on agreement (thỏa thuận) proposed earlier suggest that one who agrees must indeed decide in favor something, in the foregoing technical sense.
To say that the board (hội đồng) has authority (thẩm quyền) to decide that a cause is not within its Jurisdiction (quyền xét xử), and yet no authoriy to decide that a case is within its jurisdiction, appears to be a contradiction (mâu thuẫn) too glaring to be persisted in. That the commissioners (ủy viên) have a right to decide in favor of one party only - in favor of the party complained against , but not in favor if the complainant - can not be true.
In case of voting, individuals are not choosing simply for themselves. They do so for all. Therefore, the question voters have to decide is not merely which program is best for them and for their families. They must decide in favor of that which is best for the community as a whole, in favor of the program that might be expected to make the community economically successful, culturally flourishing and socially just, and so on. This is the vantage (lợi thế) point of the ethical model (mô hình đạo đức).
