"Reduce to ashes" = biến thành tro bụi -> bị tiêu diệt hoặc làm cho vô dụng.

Many of us may remember the story of Bhasmasur. For those who haven’t a clue what I am talking about, the story (as I remember it) goes that one of the ambitious (tham vọng) ‘Asurs’ did severe penance (ăn năn; sám hối) to win the blessings of Lord Shiva. Pleased with his devotion (sùng bái), Lord Shiva appeared and blessed him with a boon (ân huệ). The Asur asked for a boon wherein he could reduce to ashes any of his enemies by simply placing his hand over their head.

What the main trigger (ngòi nổ)? Daenerys Targaryen and your back of pot maximum when, before the surrender of the army Lannister, decides to ignore and reduce to ashes the capital of the Seven Kingdoms, Landing of the King. Such has been the uproar (phản ứng) that has caused this turn of script —almost— unexpected, that even the site ‘Rotten Tomatoes’ has called ‘The bells’ as the worst episode to date with a score of 48 out of 100. A tragic suspense to the prelude (báo trước) to the expected outcome.

It is aimed at reminding the honourable judges that if the judiciary (bộ máy tư pháp) is allowed to be reduced to ashes, there will be little or no chance of another Justice Hans Raj Khanna rising like a phoenix out of the fire to challenge Indira Gandhi when she was at her imperious (cấp bách) worst. As Ben Franklin once advised Americans: “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” I believe that devastating axiom (chân lý; châm ngôn) applies today to the Indian judiciary more than it ever did.
