"I've got a bridge to sell you" = tôi có cây cầu để bán cho bạn -> nghĩa là ai đó rất cả tin, dễ bị lừa. Câu này bắt nguồn từ tên lừa đảo George C.Parker, chuyên "bán" tài sản mà hắn không hề sở hữu, nổi tiếng nhất là cây cầu Brooklyn
Ví dụ
If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge to sell you. Leonard is surrounded by the same sort of cranks who believed that if only Jeremy Corbyn would move further left, he’d be a shoo-in (dễ thành công, dễ thắng) to become Prime Minister.
You’ve heard the saying, “If you believe that, I’ve got a bridge to sell you.” The pipeline that PennEast has tried to sell us for the past five years is a lot like that bridge. Now, adding insult (xúc phạm) to injury, they want to sell us half a bridge. Do they think we’re suckers (lũ ngốc)?
You may or may not have heard the well-known phrase, “If you believe that, then I’ve got a bridge to sell you.” But are you familiar (quen với) with the details of the conniving (thâm hiểm) con men and the swindles that inspired it?
If you really think the purpose of this whole charade (chơi chữ) was to help these tenants (người thuê) then I’ve got a bridge to sell you a few miles south of here…
