"Step on a crack, break your mother's back" -> đây là câu của trẻ con (mê tín) rằng dẫm phải vết nứt, như ở vỉa hè thì sẽ khiến mẹ bị gãy lưng.

Ví dụ
Do you remember the saying, “Step on a crack, break your mother’s back?” You probably heard the rhyme in elementary (cơ sở) school during recess (giờ nghỉ). Or maybe you heard it on your walk home from the bus stop at the end of the school day.

Superstition (mê tín dị đoan) notes, "step on a crack break your mother’s back", but those who don’t think a black cat, or a broken mirror is a threat (mối nguy) may not think twice before stepping across these doors -- and that could be dangerous.

Step on a crack, break your mother’s back. Well that’s horrendous (kinh khủng). It’s virtually (gần như) impossible to walk on Montreal sidewalks without stepping on a crack. The superstition appears to have risen from a belief that cracks lead to the underworld (địa ngục) and the devil could be lurking (ẩn giấu) there.
