"A cure worse than the disease" nghĩa là gì?

"A cure worse than the disease" =  phương thuốc còn tệ hơn căn bệnh -> nghĩa là phương án giải quyết vấn đề/khủng hoảng dẫn tới kết quả còn tồi tệ hơn ban đầu.

Ví dụ
“The solution to the current mess in Philhealth is to thoroughly investigate (điều tra) allegations of massive and systemic corruption and hold both the appointees and the appointing powers accountable,” Nagkaisa chairperson Sonny Matula said in a statement. The group also believes that privatizing (tư nhân hóa) healthcare is a “cure worse than the disease.”

Just as significantly, let us beware of a cure worse than the disease. It is tempting, seeing liberal democracy at its nadir (điểm thấp nhất), to heed an attempt at rescue from big business. Perhaps, in recommitting themselves to all their stakeholders, we might hope that the Business Roundtable will save America from angry, underpaid crowds.

At this point, one does have to ask the question: Is the lockdown a cure worse than the disease? This question is by no means (hoàn toàn không) unique to India. Throughout the advanced nations of the West, and within sub-national jurisdictions (quyền thực thi pháp lý) in federal states such as the US and Canada, political leaders and ordinary folks are asking whether the damage to the economy, to livelihoods, to the social fabric, even to mental health, is worth the putative (được cho là) gains of the lockdown in terms of containing the spread of the virus and “flattening the curve".

Don’t misunderstand me — I am not here to perpetuate (duy trì) the sentiment (quan điểm) that the shelter-in-place is a “cure worse than the disease.” I believe we can effectively stem coronavirus cases with physical distancing, but we can also do more for our children. Much in the way that we prepared for the surge in COVID patients, we need to prepare for the surge of patients stressed and strained by this virus.
