Ví dụ
Too in love with the way it looks to wallow (đắm mình) too long in kitchen-sink drama, and too hard-hitting to feel like the high-flying Hollywood fantasy it sometimes wants to be, Eternal Beauty ends up being everything at once – an all or nothing psychodrama that revels in its own excess. It might be a bit messy, conflicted (mâu thuẫn) and chaotic (rối loạn) at times, but that’s sort of the whole point.

The films deal with topics which remain relatively untouched such as abortion (phá thai) (Karel Reisz’s Saturday Night and Sunday Morning) and domestic abuse (Ken Loach’s enthralling debut Poor Cow) – but topics still fiercely relevant today. Kitchen sink drama has even kickstarted social change: two TV films that Loach directed, Up the Junction and Cathy Come Home, influenced the passage of the Abortion Act in 1967 and inspired the founding of homeless charity Crisis.

‘The Mackenzies’ is a perfect example of suburban (ngoại ô) kitchen sink drama. The song tracks an encounter between the neighbour who lives across the street and the main character, “the kind of guy who sees a neighbour outside and stays inside and hides,” thinking “I'll run that errand (lặt vặt) another time”, whose car breaks down in front of his house, and is invited in to the said neighbours’ house.

Throughout His House, Weekes’s seamlessly (liền mạch) blends (hòa trộn) horror with elements of kitchen-sink drama and African folklore, morphing the domestic space into an uncanny (huyền bí), liminal zone where the distinctions between past and present, as well as Africa and Europe, are blurred beyond recognition.
