"All things to all men" nghĩa là gì?

"All things to all men" = mọi thứ cho mọi người -> nghĩa là làm hài lòng tất cả mọi người.

Ví dụ
Besides his numerous cures, there were many other wonders on St. Francis’ life: gifts of tongues, predictions (tiên đoán), bilocation, calming a storm at sea, and more. Francis had been “all things to all men”; he was known and loved and even sometimes hated by great and small in all walks of life.

Following this week’s incoherent (rời rạc) and reactionary (phản động) spending review, complete with a freeze on public sector pay and a massive boost in military spending, the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, is so conflicted that he cannot even bring himself to admit that he is imposing a new round of austerity on a country that has already been groaning under that cosh (dùi cui) for the past decade; and the party’s current leader Boris Johnson is so adept at being all things to all men (and women) that his shape-shifting qualities have become an international byword.

He’s trying to be all things to all men; he’s brilliant at politics. He’s not to be trusted but he can present (trình diện) a trusted face. He likes risk-taking. Has a sense of humor about what he does. He enjoys life to the full, has a lust for life, and he also has confidence.

Is it time to reconsider the broadcaster's purpose, its place in Irish life? It seems as if it may be as if it continues to try to be all things to all men, a kind of green BBC, it will continue to fade (phai nhạt).
