"Box-office bomb" -> nghĩa là bộ phim không thành công, bán được ít vé; quả bom xịt.

Ví dụ
The King of Comedy was Scorsese’s first major box office bomb, and it’s hard to pin down exactly where it went wrong with audiences, as the movie was critically acclaimed (hoan nghênh) and it was right off the heels of Scorsese and De Niro’s previous collaboration, Raging Bull.

Netflix’s Over the Moon praised (khen ngợi) in China but bigger box-office bomb than Disney’s Mulan. While both films feature Chinese stories and all-Asian casts, Over the Moon is being applauded for handing Chinese culture better than the live-action Mulan. The US-China co-production has received little attention in China, earning less than US$1 million at the box office before streaming on Tencent Video and iQiyi.

Rock icon Debbie Harry stars in one of David Cronenberg’s many body horror extravaganzas (phóng túng), surrounding an otherworldly TV show. Though a box office bomb upon its release, the film is now considered to be a cult (thờ cúng tôn giáo) classic viewed by some as one of Cronenberg’s best. It was added to the Criterion Collection in 2004.

Despite their iconic status, the Universal classic monsters have had a troubled history in the new millennium. Even before the failed investment that was the Dark Universe, The Wolfman proved to be a box office bomb in 2010, while the reviews and returns of Dracula Untold in 2014 were much too tepid (nhạt nhẽo) to start a franchise.
