"Doped to the gills" nghĩa là gì?

"Be doped to the gills" có dope là thuốc có hại, to the gills là đầy ắp, đầy ự -> cụm từ này nghĩa là phê thuốc, gần như tới mức rối loạn tâm trí.

Ví dụ
There’s Froome, who remains a lightning rod for controversy among naysayers despite emerging as the most successful grand tour rider of his generation. Whether it’s his sometimes awkward (yet highly effective) riding style that irks (làm phiền) the purists, or the incredulity (hoài nghi) among doubters who won’t believe anyone can win a grand tour without being doped to the gills, Froome, despite his Boy Scout demeanor and impeccable professionalism, oddly seems to draw the ire from a wide spectrum of the cycling public.

My old CSC jersey may have been the fatal (tai họa) attention but are things really that bad? That everyone who even acts like they’re into cycling over the mountains must be juiced up, doped to the gills, still taking the Smarties?

I no longer pay attention to professional cycling, save for a couple stages of the Tour each summer. I and everyone else watching shares the memory of Lance’s cover up. When I try to suspend (ngừng) my doubt and tune in, the thought still carousels through my mind: “I wonder who’s doped to the gills.”

Ethiopians and possibly the Kenyans doped to the gills. Some hide out and then race a handful of times and smash world records. More than elevated air methinks (đối với tôi)!
