“Wouldn't want to be in shoes” = không muốn xỏ đôi giày này -> nghĩa là ai đó đang hoặc sắp rơi vào tình cảnh khó khăn, tồi tệ hoặc không thể tránh được.

Ví dụ
We see a great risk that we wouldn't want to be in shoes for some time ahead.

This is an important win, we knew we wouldn't want to be in shoes and couldn't afford to lose any more games and it's been a very good week for us, winning three games, all away from home, and while playing some very good football

Let's bear this in mind eh, Mr Lewis in all his heart wasn't expecting to have a job the next day or even to be fired from one, he wasn't of the mind that people may want to hurt him or even to go somewhere for asylum (nơi ẩn nấp, nhà thương điên), or find somewhere to cool off. Listen he wasn't expecting nothing more than what he truly believe to have taken place - that the world would have ended. He's more hurting from this than even losing his job. He has taken a hard fall and is really in need of sympathy, in need to lifted up from caring hands. I certainly wouldn't want to be in shoes.
