"The ghost walks" nghĩa là gì?

"The ghost walks" = bóng ma xuất hiện -> nghĩa là (diễn viên) chỉ biểu diễn khi được đảm bảo sẽ có lương (xuất phát từ việc diễn viên đóng vai cha của Hamlet (trong vở kịch Hamlet của Shakespeare) - xuất hiện như một hồn ma - yêu cầu chỉ biểu diễn khi đã được trả lương).
Ví dụ
The ghost walks today because we all just got paid!
If I played with applause, it was a matter of indifference whether "the ghost" walked on Saturday or not.
A company doing Hamlet hadn't been paid for a month or so. When during a performance Hamlet exclaimed (la lên) "Perchance 'twill walk again," the actor playing the ghost answered from the wings, "No, I'll be damned if the ghost walks any more until our salaries are paid." That night the salaries were finally paid.
