"The mammon of unrighteousness" có mammon là tiền tài, unrighteousness là trái đạo đức -> cụm từ này nghĩa là tiền bạc, của cải có được qua việc làm trái phép, bất chính.

John Adams also understood the broad nature of the term, writing with concern about “universal Idolatry (sùng bái) to the Mammon of Unrighteousness.” He recognized how all tyrants, from Julius Caesar to corrupt (thối nát) governors, exploited “the mad Idolatry of the People,” which inevitably turned into “the surest Instruments of their own Servitude.”

Having long felt the inadequacy (không tương xứng) of the provisions (cung cấp) made for the poor in our houses of worship, and knowing from sad experience that many devout (chân thành) believers and humble followers of the lowly Jesus are excluded from those courts, where the rich and poor should meet together, shut out from those holy services by the mammon of unrighteousness, from that very church which declares the widow's mite to be more acceptable in the sight of the Lord than the careless offerings of those who give of their 'abundance.'

A beloved brother asked during the bible study in our church what Jesus met in Luke 16:9 “And I say unto you, make to yourselves friends of the mammon of unrighteousness; that, when ye fail, they may receive you into everlasting (vĩnh hằng).”
