“The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” nghĩa là gì?

“The truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth” = sự thật, toàn bộ đều là sự thật và không gì ngoài sự thật -> nghĩa là nhấn mạnh tính chắc chắn và rõ ràng của sự thật, lời tuyên thệ trước tòa cũng như dùng cho nhiều ngữ cảnh khác.

Ví dụ
Judge Peter Fraser, who managed the group litigation (kiện tụng, tranh chấp), said: “On the basis of information that has come to my attention as a result of the Post Office group litigation, I consider important evidence given both to the Crown Court and the High Court on previous occasions in other cases was not true, and was known not to be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, at the time it was given.”

I also totally reject “wasting taxpayer’s money.” I love that God greatly blessed America and that we need to do “everything we can to protect it.” I too know we need “to spread the truth in whatever way I/we can” and yes some of “what is happening in our country is wrong” and finally I also want to “do my best to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth so help me God.”

“To think that we, as limited humans, have the omniscience (sự thông suốt mọi sự, toàn trí toàn thức, thượng đế) or objectivity to determine the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth is at best naïve (ngây thơ, chất phác) and at worst arrogant (kiêu ngạo). The best we can do is to hope that we all have some piece of the truth that we share with others in the public commons to hopefully knit together some semblance of the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth.”
