If you’d like to trade (đổi) your bubble and squeak for a perfectly square hamburger, I’ve got great news for you: Wendy’s is returning to the United Kingdom following a two-decade absence.

There was a time when no leftovers went unused and home cooks (usually our mothers) found a way to turn the scraps (vụn) of meat and produce in the fridge into a meal for the whole family. One of the most common recipes was bubble and squeak – a mismatch of veggies and slices of ham or bacon, hobnobbed together and fried in a pan to create a crunchy (giòn), comforting and cheap dinner.

Jamie Oliver serves his bubble and squeak with a poached (kho) egg on top -  as well as a cold Guinness on the side - while Gordon Ramsey suggests adding pancetta to the mix.

We love our bubble and squeak served with soft scrambled eggs (make sure they‘re thoroughly cooked through for children under 2) and often cook a little diced ham (thịt lợn) (omit for babies) through it as well.
