"Self denying" nghĩa là gì?

"Self denying" -> nghĩa là người chấp nhận buông thứ mình muốn để người khác được có (vì họ nghĩ đó là điều đúng đắn); người hy sinh thân mình, quên mình.

Ví dụ
Plutarch states that “he undertook (trải qua) the service of the state as the proper business of an honest man.” But in politics as in war, he stood out for his self-denying, hardworking approach.

Jackie narrates (kể chuyện), alternating between 1999 and 1979. Having inherited (thừa hưởng) the estate, she’s returned after 20 years of estrangement (ghẻ lạnh). Her blissful summer ended in tragedy (bi kịch), and the pain she carries from that shock tells her to sell the place and be done. She’s no longer the 17-year-old girl who found kinship and happiness, only to have it cut short by grief. Now she’s a self-denying music teacher in Boston with an earnest boyfriend and a safe, if dull, future.

Just water indeed – in hot water was where Rapha ended up. Anyone who has read biographies of Pantini knows it wasn’t fruit that fuelled his performances, but illegal performance-enhancing drugs. Even so, the myths of the heroic, self-denying cycling purist perpetuate – and are potentially extremely harmful.

If that proved unworkable, he suggested that the central government instead “make a separately (tách biệt) self-denying statement to the effect that they would not exercise (thực hiện) their right to send troops except in these circumstances”.
