"Sleaze factor" có sleaze là nhơ nhớp, dơ bẩn -> từ này nghĩa là thành phần tham nhũng, thối nát, dính vào bê bối của một đảng phái chính trị.

Ví dụ
The sleaze factor is in the betrayal (phản bội). If people on the string had a problem with the trip, they should have said so in the texts. No one had the guts to criticize her or say, “Heidi, I think that’s a bad idea.”

So now we have Manatee County Commissioner George Kruse calling out fellow Commissioner Carol Whitmore on Facebook, and while it’s a tickle fight compared to Miner vs. Hopes, Car Wars I, it’s still nasty (ghê gớm) in its own passive-aggressive way, basically because of the underlying sleaze factor.

Liberal commentator (người phát ngôn) Tom Braden thought the sleaze factor would be a major campaign theme. He said the names of the Reagan officials under suspicion (nghi vấn) such as Meese and Allen "do not conjure the image of openness, candor, honesty and fair-mindedness that Americans respect." These are also words one would not immediately associate with the name Clinton.

Keir Starmer has so far failed to cut through. The sleaze factor now rivals the parliamentary (quốc hội) expenses scandal of 2009 that shook the British political system to its foundations. Cronyism (chủ nghĩa thân hữu) may yet turn out to be Johnson’s duck island but Starmer needs to up his game if he is to exploit it.
