"As American as mom and apple pie" nghĩa là gì?

"As American as mom and apple pie" = có chất Mỹ như mẹ và bánh táo -> nghĩa là nguyên tắc cốt lõi, giá trị, niềm tin của người dân nước Mỹ.

Ví dụ
In the 1800s, an evangelist (người truyền giáo) known as Johnny Appleseed encouraged Americans to plant more apple trees, and some of those apples found their way into pie. And during World War II, people started saying, “As American as mom and apple pie.” The simple dessert had become a national tradition (truyền thống), and a symbol of American pride. “That’s a funny thing about apple pie – it has already achieved perfection,” Sarah said. “So, if you go to the finest restaurant, or you go to a diner, there’s no better version of apple pie than apple pie.”

It’s as American as mom and apple pie. Or so says the classic idiom, even if it’s not entirely true. In spite of how much Americans crave (khao khát) our iconic dessert, neither apples nor pie actually came from America. Go ahead and remove it from the pedestal of American gastronomical delights. It won’t bother me, or rattle the foundations of Western civilization.

Wilder’s writing is often perceived as being simple, in the virtuous (đạo đức tốt) sense, and as American as mom and apple pie. But as this PBS documentary points out, there’s nothing simple about being an American. And Wilder might actually have made it more complicated.

If anything else is as American as mom and apple pie, it’s strumming (đánh đàn) your acoustic guitar in a pasture decked out in a cowboy hat and boots.
