"Covenant of salt" nghĩa là gì?

"Covenant of salt" = hiệp ước muối -> nghĩa là hiệp định, liên minh giữa hai nhóm với mong muốn hợp tác lâu dài; nghĩa khác là nghi lễ truyền thống trong hôn nhân, hai người trao cho nhau một nhúm muối vào một hộp chung, tượng trưng cho lời hẹn ước trăm năm.
Ví dụ
The Jews understood the symbolic (tượng trưng) meaning of salt in their culture. In the book of Numbers, God’s everlasting (vĩnh hằng) covenant with the Jewish people was referred to as “a covenant of salt.” Likewise, the gospel that the disciples would spread to the world would be an everlasting gospel.
It didn’t matter; it could be about the covenant of salt in Leviticus, or the fact that Noah’s wife has no name. It all profoundly (sâu sắc) and directly resonated with something in the Haggadah.
Why is it a “covenant of salt”? What has salt got to do with our bond (mối liên kết) with G‑d? Salt is a preservative (chất bảo quản) that neither spoils nor decays. These unique properties make salt the perfect metaphor for G‑d’s eternal covenant with the Jewish people.11
