"Grammar nazi" = phát xít ngữ pháp -> nghĩa là người chuyên đi sửa lỗi ngữ pháp, lỗi phát âm, chính tả, hay các lỗi sai của người khác; cảnh sát chính tả.
Ví dụ
From the use of the term “grammar Nazi” to PETA’s comparisons (so sánh) of farming to concentration camps, Holocaust metaphors seem to be increasingly commonplace in our culture. Recently, the COVID-19 anti-vax movement has taken this rhetoric (tu từ) even further by comparing the enforcement of mask mandates (bắt buộc) and vaccine requirements to the Nazis’ treatment of Jews during the Holocaust.
And yet, until a few years ago, I prided myself on being the Upholder of Grammar, the Keeper of Punctuation and the Corrector of Wrongly Placed Apostrophes. In short, I was, what we colloquially (thông tục) call, a ‘Grammar Nazi’.
It was not until I was on the receiving end of some no-holds-barred grammar “nazism” (not that I condone the word’s being bandied about but given its status as a much-used marker of grammar militants, I’ll use it as shorthand for now) that I was revolted at my own snobbery.
Sadly, that’s unlikely. Twitter is rife (tràn ngập) with self-confessed grammar nazis. Over 80 tweeters use “grammar nazi” in their handle or display name. And cut from the same cloth are tweeters who call themselves “grammar police”, “grammar fascist”, “grammar evangelist” and “grammar bitch”.
