"I don't want to alarm you, but" nghĩa là gì?

"I don't want to alarm you, but" = tôi không muốn làm bạn lo lắng, nhưng -> câu dùng để thông báo tin xấu.

Ví dụ
I don’t want to alarm you, but this is a big one: you are going to lose your mind. We should explore this idea by way of a story. A man fills the sink (bồn rửa) to do the washing-up. He leaves the tap running while he attends to other business about the house. You know how it is. One child discovers the stairs. Another throws a bowl of plums down the toilet. Never a dull moment.

I don’t want to alarm you, but there’s a bug in your kettle. Technically, it’s a worm (con sâu) in the firmware of your Fellow electronic kettle, but it was put there intentionally (có chủ ý). What is the brand’s purpose for the worm? Are they trying to steal all your brewing data to sell to the Russians? Are they listening to our conversations around the coffee counter to get ideas for new products?

I don’t want to alarm you, but I’m going to present a statistic (thông số) that’s pretty alarming. Fiorentina’s top three strikers—Dušan Vlahović, Christian Kouamé, and Patrick Cutrone—have combined for 2 goals across 1182 minutes in Serie A this season.

My husband Peter called for an ambulance and I remember him describing (miêu tả) how my face was drooping down one side, then I heard the operator say to Peter: “I don’t want to alarm you but I think he’s having a stroke (đột quỵ).” I owe Peter my life, because I could have died without his quick actions.

She believes her neighbours have "got it in for her" after police officers turned up at the posh five-bedroom home she is currently renting.

"He thinks they will slam him with all the time they can put on him," the 53-year-old said, predicting at least another 16 years behind bars. He’s fully aware that the powers that be have got it in for him.

However, he has not presented any evidence or counter-polling to substantiate his claims that the surveys in question were somehow rigged or manufactured. But that hasn’t stopped him from pushing the claim and also allegations the US media have got it in for him.

The second wave of Covid has given us a new cause célèbre. Never mind the PPE scandal, the liquor ban tussle (ẩu đả), or how to manage the school year: the big question is how to get vaccines - the purported silver bullet in fighting the pandemic.

But a new factor in Navalny's power play with the Kremlin is that his poisoning has turned him into an international cause célèbre. German Chancellor Angela Merkel intervened to have Navalny receive medical treatment in Berlin and then visited him in the hospital.

Refusing to settle, Mr. Scheidler became a cause célèbre among anti-abortion activists (nhà hoạt động). His lawyer, Thomas Brejcha, who had been working pro bono, founded the Thomas More Society, a nonprofit law firm, as a way to funnel donations, which soon came pouring in.

Being stubborn (cứng đầu) and not wanting to give up the cause, no matter how hopeless it seems, might sound depressing. But to me, it shows the strength of teenagers and young adults. Even though the task ahead of us may seem impossible, we are still prioritizing (ưu tiên) it and tackling it head-on because anything less than a future that ensures climate justice for everyone is unacceptable.

The key is to persevere (bảo vệ) and never give up the cause despite the number of setbacks (khó khăn). The exasperation (mọi thứ trầm trọng hơn) which afflicts (làm khổ sở) you at times will ease as you notice the fruits of your labours starting to appear. Indisputable evidence of improvement will bring a sense of relief.

He also said it was important to reschedule the event because local businesses and charities depend on the funds (quỹ) it raises. "We're not going to give up the cause, we're just going to do it in a safer manner," O'Dwyer said.

Fernandes threaded through a perfect pass for his French team mate, who was denied by Foster’s excellent block. She did not show good cause for the delay in service. Nor did she explain why she had not sought more time to serve before the 90-day deadline expired. Plaintiff finally served the defendant (người bị kiện) more than a year after filing the complaint.
