"Redbrick university" nghĩa là gì?

"Redbrick university" = đại học gạch đỏ -> nghĩa là các trường đại học mới, ít được biết đến, thường được xây dựng từ Thế chiến II để đào tạo các sinh viên ở các khu công nghiệp, tập trung vào các môn chuyên ngành, và được quỹ chính phủ hỗ trợ một phần; bất kỳ trường đại học nào không có danh tiếng như Oxford và Cambridge.

The University of Birmingham was founded in 1900 by Joseph Chamberlain - also its first chancellor (hiệu trưởng). It was the world's first redbrick university and it's today ranked in the top 100 institutions in the world, with a population greater than Stratford-upon-Avon.
