"A cup of tea, a Bex, and a good lie down" = một cốc trà, một chút Bex và nằm thư giãn (Bex là một loại thuốc giảm đau ở Úc) -> nghĩa là loại thuốc chữa bách bệnh, phương pháp giải quyết cho mọi vấn đề; cũng dùng để bày tỏ rằng cần phải nghỉ ngơi để ổn định.

There used to be a stoic (khắc kỷ) resistance to taking drugs to treat even the worst of ailments (ốm đau). Migraines, muscle pain and insomnia were seen by the Silent Generation - those who came before the baby boomers - as treatable through a cup of tea, a warm bath, a lie down or some fresh air. But come the 1960s and a medical element was added to that mix after a marketing phrase entered the vernacular - ''Have a cup of tea, a Bex and a good lie down''.
In the 1930s through to the early '70s, Australia was in the grip of a different white powder epidemic to that causing concern these days. It was characterised in the play (vở kịch) A Cup of Tea, A Bex and a Good Lie Down, which ran in Sydney for many years, satirising the mid-20th century Australian housewife's drug of choice.
