"Momo Challenge" nghĩa là gì?

"Momo Challenge" -> thử thách giả trên truyền thông xã hội, liên quan đến một nhân vật kỳ quái tên là Momo, kẻ đã liên lạc với trẻ em và buộc chúng thực hiện các hành vi bạo lực thậm chí có cả tự tử. Trò lừa bịp lan truyền trên mạng này đã gây sự hoảng loạn trên toàn thế giới vào năm 2018-19.

Take the “Momo” challenge as an example. In this “hoax challenge,” the rumour is that a frightening woman with bulging eyes will pop up on users’ screens while they watch something harmless, like a cartoon.

Images of a demonic chicken lady are stoking panic across the globe, with warnings of a dangerous “suicide game” that targets children on social media. But behind the hysteria (sự cuồng loạn/kích động) linked to the so-called “Momo challenge” is an issue far more revealing: This urban legend is likely little more than a hoax fueled by media reports and parents’ fears about their kids’ online activity.

Take for instance the Momo challenge which caught the public’s attention in 2019. Reports suggested children were being encouraged by an internet user “Momo” to perform dangerous acts, including self-harm. Had the online safety bill been enforced at the time, it would have allowed parliament to put increasing pressure on companies to tackle Momo (though this challenge was later revealed to be a hoax (đánh lừa/chơi khăm)).
