"A meal unto itself" = là bữa chính luôn rồi -> nghĩa là đồ ăn, thường là đồ ăn vặt, đồ ăn nhẹ rất bổ béo/bổ dưỡng (không cần ăn thêm món gì khác).

Ví dụ
At best, it’s an appetizer (món khai vị). Or a light snack, something to eat when my mouth is bored (chán nản). Or maybe part of a larger meal, like grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. But it’s not a meal unto itself. That’s just cruel.

If the phrase rings odd to modern ears, it’s because graphic literature long ago surpassed the realm (giới) of mere literary appetiser, and is now a meal unto itself, a humming, thriving feast of drama, suspense and beauty that rivals any art put out most years.

Last week, Ivy Mellow from Ivy's Simply Homemade in Waterford provided "What to Cook" with an addictive recipe (công thức) for Apple Crisp. It's an ideal winter dessert or, really, at any time. Now, as a sort of yin to the yang, here's how to make Ivy's Lobster Bisque, which works as a meal unto itself or as a fine starter for a holiday feast.

Skyloft's dreamy sunsets are made even better by some of the best barbecue (đồ nướng) in Orange County, where you'll find slow-smoked brisket, pulled pork, and chicken andouille paired with citrus white rice and cornbread that's not a meal unto itself.
