Ví dụ
We are all aware that the times are out of joint. Major systems seem to be cracking. Many people I talk to are just plain scared. Their old sources of support and opportunity are crumbling (đổ vỡ). Their economic prospects are dwindling (suy thoái). Their children have a darker future without promise.
Still, the times are out of joint. I have only recently understood the power of this metaphor. There is a kind of connective tissue that joins cause to consequence — a king dies and his son succeeds him.
The Royal Academy Summer Show has an unbroken record. Still, this year, due to the pandemic, it’s being held (tổ chức) in the winter rather than the summer – another sign, along with face masks and social distancing that ‘the times are out of joint’.
