"Shadow docket" nghĩa là gì?

"Shadow docket" = sổ ghi chép bóng tối -> nghĩa là một trong hai sổ ghi các vụ án và các vấn đề khác do Tòa án Tối cao Mỹ giải quyết hằng năm. Cũng thường chính thức gọi là sổ ghi án lệnh.

Davin Rosborough, a voting rights lawyer at the American Civil Liberties Union, highlighted that the Supreme Court had blocked lower court rulings through emergency requests on its so-called shadow docket without full briefing and oral (lời nói, bằng miệng) argument.

But people should operate without any illusions: If the Democrats somehow pass a national law codifying (lập luật lệ) Roe v. Wade, the conservative justices will use the emergency “shadow docket” to prevent it from taking effect and then strike it down later, when it is electorally convenient for them to do so.

All these came as requests for emergency relief — efforts to have the court issue interim (lâm thời) rulings on its so-called “shadow docket,” temporarily freezing the relevant lower-court decision while the appeals process plays out. And the common thread uniting them wasn’t lost on commentators; Steven Mazie, who covers the court for The Economist, tweeted that the docket is becoming a magnet (nam châm) for "generalized GOP gripes.”
