Despite what its name might imply, Laylo is not laying low. One year after its launch, the startup has built a customer relations management (CRM) platform used by musicians, podcasters, gamers, athletes, and creators. Now, the company known for its role within the so-called “drop culture” has announced a strategic investment that brings its total funding up to $8 million to date.
There were some "failure to launch" scenarios where large crowds prompted police to shut down lines and send folks home. Luckily for me, the crowd – the eight-city-blocks-long crowd – in Times Square was civil. Many waited overnight to get their mittens (mua găng tay hở ngón, bị đuổi ra khỏi chỗ làm) on a fresh MoonSwatch. Drop culture had officially hit the watch world in a meaningful way, and most of those in line weren't even clued into horological (thuật làm đồng hồ) happenings. They were just there because it was cool…and relatively affordable. How they got the news, I don't know (I'll just assume they read my story).
The Asendorf strain (căng thẳng) of generative (phát sinh) art is more scrappy (rời rạc, hay gây gổ), lo-fi (thể loại nhạc trong đó có chứa một vài lỗi kỹ thuật trong quá trình ghi âm và trình diễn) and explicitly algorithmic (thuật toán rõ ràng), and also oddly painterly (họa sĩ). Take the almost-op art of Tyler Hobbs, Dmitri Cherniak’s whirring tape heads, Anna Ridler’s art of the data set, the shape-shifting work of Itzel Yard (aka IX Shells), the psychedelic (ảo giác, lâng lâng) landscapes and portraits of Ellie Pritts, the reconfigured myths (thần thoại) of Morehshin Allahyari and the mixed-media collages (nghệ thuật cắt dán ảnh thành những hình nghệ thuật) of Juan Covelli. This wing of generative art mostly runs on small screens rather than in large spaces, and heralds (báo trước) a post-speculative bubble (ảo tưởng) era of NFT art, built around genuine innovation rather than hype and drop-culture economics.
