"Election administrator’s prayer" = lời cầu nguyện của quản lý bầu cử -> nghĩa là trách nhiệm và các khó khăn người quản lý cuộc bầu cử thường gặp phải.

An adage known as the election administrator’s prayer goes something like this: “Dear Lord, let this election not be close.” When results are overwhelmingly (tràn ngập) clear, there are far fewer doubts about the integrity (chính trực) of the election process or frustrations with the procedures (quy trình).
All of these scenarios cause heartburn (ợ nóng) for elections officials who’d much prefer smooth-running contests with clear winners whose victory speeches are finished by bedtime. “The election administrator’s prayer,” Chapin said, “is, ‘Let the margins (lề) be wide.’”
“A close recount is going to expose all the warts (nét xấu) you have in election system,” he said. “It’s an election administrator’s prayer to not have a close election, so those warts are not revealed.”
