"Ignorantia juris non excusat" = ignorance of the law does not excuse -> nghĩa là mặc dù không biết về luật, người phạm luật vẫn phải chịu hình phạt.

Ví dụ
But our legal system goes by the presumption (gải định) that "ignorance of law is no excuse" expressed in the Latin maxim Ignorantia juris non excusat – A person who has violated a law is not entitled (cho quyền) to the defence that they did not know of the law.

The notion of Legal literacy is based on the principle that every individual (cá nhân) must be aware of their rights and obligations. The maxim 'ignorantia juris non-excusat,' or 'ignorance of the law is no excuse,' implies that the Court presumes that every party is aware of the law and hence cannot claim ignorance of the law as a defence to escape liability (trách nhiệm pháp lý).

The legal doctrines (chủ nghĩa) of Ignorantia Facti Excusat and Ignorantia Juris Non Excusat play an important role in the Indian legal system. These principles provide a legal defence for individuals who commit acts in good faith and under the belief that they are acting in accordance with the law. While mistake of fact is generally a valid defence, mistake of law is not considered to be a defence in India.
