"A baker's dozen" nghĩa là gì?

"A baker's dozen" = một tá của người bán bánh. Thông thường một tá = 12 nhưng đối với người bán bánh thì một tá là 13. Nguồn gốc cụm từ này bắt nguồn từ thời bánh mì thường được bán theo cân và những người bán thiếu sẽ bị phạt rất nặng nên tránh bị phạt, họ thường bán 13 ổ bánh mì với giá 12 ổ.
Ví dụ
“I’ll take a baker’s dozen of those donuts, please.”
The annual Dynamite Dozen series is complete for 2019. While we ended up with a baker’s dozen, meaning 13 total, there could have been several more excellent football players in the region that could have also been selected.
As we look forward to another school year and sign up for another baker’s dozen of them, we’re trying really hard not to feel old. We’re just experienced and educated. Isn’t that what school’s all about anyway?
