Many decades ago, the great media critic (nhà phê bình truyền thông) George Seldes observed: “The most sacred cow of the press (báo chí) is the press itself.” That remains true today.

Politicians and reporters will argue viciously (mạnh mẽ) about all kinds of issues: immigration, healthcare, race, et al. There’s only one sacred cow that mainstream (xu thế) insiders (người nộ bộ) – both “left” and right – dare not challenge: the runaway Pentagon budget and America’s forever wars.

Investment houses must be prepared to sacrifice (hy sinh) returns (lợi nhuận) in an effort to maintain the liquidity (tính thanh khoản) of their funds, the chief investment officer (giám đốc đầu tư) at Europe’s largest asset (tài sản) manager has warned. “This sacred cow about everything having daily liquidity must be changed and will be changed,” said Pascal Blanqué at Amundi Asset Management.
