"Banana oil" nghĩa là gì?

"Banana oil" (dầu chuối) là từ được dùng để ám chỉ những cuộc nói chuyện dông dài, vô nghĩa với những lời nói không thành thật nhằm tâng bốc hoặc xu nịnh.
Ví dụ
Old-timers (người gạo cội/kỳ cựu) would tell you that standards of electoral (liên quan tới bầu cử) rhetoric (thuật hùng biện) have fallen. Banana oil! Electoral rhetoric has always been nasty (kinh tởm, xấu xa). Acid tongue has been an asset (thứ có giá trị/hữu ích) to politicians ever since man became a political animal.
