"Measure off" nghĩa là gì?

"Measure (something) off" = đo lường cái gì và đánh dấu điểm mà nó kết thúc hoặc sẽ được cắt. 

Ví dụ 
These were their words as they marched along (đi cùng), when there was no man [as yet]. Then they arrived there in the east and began to speak. “Who has passed here? Here are footprints. Measure it off with your foot.” 

I have seen them made of rope, in the following manner:—Take the distance between the two quarter blocks, and measure it off on deck; drive a nail (đóng đinh) slightly into the deck at each end; then measure from the centre the height the bunt (bụng buồm) is intended to be, and there drive another nail. 

To mark off its width distinctly let the plough (cái cày) pass in the direction of r e, with the furrow-slice (tảng đất cày lên) lying towards x. Do the same along the other head-land, at the opposite end of the field. Then take a pole (cây sào) and measure off the width of a quarter of a ridge (luống).
