"Coup de grâce" nghĩa là gì?

"Coup de grâce" phát súng kết liễu, cú đánh cho chết hẳn, nhát đâm cho chết hẳn. Cụm tiếng Pháp thay thế của "blow of mercy."

Ví dụ
Then, six hours later, Avigdor Lieberman arrived with his Yisrael Beitenu colleagues (đồng nghiệp) and delivered the coup de grace: an endorsement (xác nhận) of Mr Gantz, reversing (trái ngược) last time’s abstention (không bỏ phiếu).

The killing was cold-blooded (máu lạnh)… after the first bullet (viên đạn) struck him, the accused (bị cáo) came close up and administered (thi hành) the coup de grace from close range. This was a cold-blooded assassination (ám sát) of a defenceless victim (nạn nhân không có khả năng tự vệ).

We face challenges (thách thức), and if we aren't done in by them, we've acquired knowledge and experience and in theory (lý thuyết) might be better prepared to face future challenges. In practice, sometimes what doesn't kill us leaves us kitten-weak (yếu đuối) and begging (cầu xin) for the coup de grace. I don't trust Nietzsche any more than I do Alex Jones: Sometimes what comes next will kill you.
