"Founding father (of something)" nghĩa là cha đẻ (nghĩa bóng), nhà sáng lập, thành lập ra. Trong trường hợp viết hoa, "Founding Fathers" được hiểu là Tổ phụ Lập quốc Hoa Kỳ/ nhóm lập quốc Hoa Kỳ/ Kiến Quốc Phụ.

Ví dụ
Jean-Claude Ganga, the founding father of Africa's greatest sporting festival, died on Saturday, at the age of 86.

It celebrates the birthday of the country's founding father, Kim Il Sung, and has in the past been marked with events like satellite launches (phóng vệ tinh nhân tạo) and massive military parades (diễu hành quân sự).

John Adams was notoriously (nổi tiếng) difficult to be around. William Grimes wrote for the New York Times that “if you could bend time and space to hang out with the Founding Fathers, here's a tip: steer clear (tránh xa) of John Adams.”

While many Founding Fathers might be scratching their heads if they could see how the nation they shaped was responding (đối phó) to this latest pandemic (đại dịch), Franklin wouldn't be. He'd understand social distancing measures (biện pháp giãn cách xã hội) and would likely be wearing a mask (khẩu trang) — of his own design, of course.
