"Golden opinions" nghĩa là sự tán dương, sự tôn trọng, ca ngợi.

Ví dụ
Smith was bound (bị trói) and stretched (kéo) upon the earth, his head resting upon a great stone. The mighty club was uplifted to dash out his brains. But Smith was a man who won golden opinions of all.

His abilities (khả năng) and acquirements (tài năng) indeed were such that this crawling process of his was at least equal to the ordinary walk of an able man, so that, as Chairman of the Excise for many years, he won golden opinions from all those who were brought into contact with (thường gặp/liên lạc) him.

The question is, "What is your opinion of our worthy (xứng đáng) President, Mr. Scott?" It has been answered in very few words but in a very substantial manner. They replied with one accord (chấp nhận), "He's a jolly good fellow." They also declared, " He has won golden opinions from us, and we have such solicitude (mong ước) for his future welfare (phúc lợi) that we desire to 'watch' over him.
