"Arrow of time" = hướng thời gian -> nghĩa là miêu tả cách thời gian trôi từ quá khứ đến tương lai như thế nào.

Ví dụ
Artist's representation of the history of the universe and the arrow of time. Big Bang theory (thuyết) implies that time moves in a single direction.

And yet, despite how ambiguous (mơ hồ, khó hiểu) time is, there are some facts about it that all observers can agree on. Perhaps the most fundamental — and yet perhaps the most puzzling as well — is that everyone, in their own inertial reference frame, always sees time moving forward at the same rate: one second-per-second. This fact is known as the arrow of time, and while there are many ideas as to what causes it, we know it isn't thermodynamics (nhiệt động lực học). Here's the science behind why.

It's a principle that explains why your coffee won't stay hot in a cold room, why it's easier to scramble (cướp, tung ném) an egg than unscramble it, and why nobody will ever let you patent (phát minh) a perpetual motion (sự chuyển động không ngừng) machine. It's also the closest we can get to a rule that tells us why we can remember what we had for dinner last night, but have no memory of next Christmas. "That law is closely related to the notion of the arrow of time that posits (đặt cơ sở, khẳng định) the one-way direction of time from the past to the future," said quantum (mức, định lượng) physicist Gordey Lesovik from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.
