"Scaredy-cat" = mèo nhát gan -> người nhút nhát, rụt rè hoặc dễ hoảng sợ.

Ví dụ
I love horror games, but I’m sometimes a bit too much of a scaredy-cat to play them all the way through.

Now, Sarah is no scaredy-cat like me. She grew up surrounded by adventure, heading out into nature all the time — her parents were great lovers of the outdoors and her father, yes, is Sir Edmund Hillary, conqueror (nhà chinh phục) of Everest.

I’m not proud to be a scaredy-cat but it doesn’t mean I’m weak. I am committed (muốn) to bringing about (tạo nên) change, I’m just not a fighter. Instead, I am meeting with black people and white people to have uncomfortable conversations. (Not uncomfortable because we have to wear masks and stay six feet apart, but because the topic makes people squirm (lúng túng).) We’re getting things out in the open, crossing dividing lines, and learning. We are becoming friends. I’m not changing the world, I’m changing me.

According to her lawyer Vanessa Frank, Mariana expressed that she felt like all of this happened because she tried to follow the rules, she showed up on time with all of the necessary documents, and still had the rug pulled out (ngừng giúp ai đó khi họ cần) from underneath her. It felt very unfair, “She was so determined at a young age. I’m a scaredy-cat, like when I go out to eat I always eat the same food. She moved to a new country on her own.” said Nadia about her mother.
