"A dog-eat-dog world" = thế giới chó cắn chó ->  nghĩa là tình huống mà con nguời sẽ làm bất kỳ điều gì để thành công, kể cả có phải làm hại người khác.

Ví dụ
Robert Reich, former secretary of labor (lao động), was once asked after his departure from government to reflect (suy ngẫm về) on the transition. He is alleged to have said this: “Certainly at that level of government, it’s a dog-eat-dog world. On the other hand, after leaving government, I find that it’s just the opposite.” I’m guessing that Reich’s hidden meaning is simply that nothing in life is easy. Amen to that.

I once heard someone say of the pallet (tấm nâng hàng) industry, “It’s a dog-eat-dog world out there, and I feel like I am wearing ALPO underwear.” It is true that the pallet industry is among one of the most competitive industries in the United States. Customers will jump ship for a nickel (mạ kền) per pallet. At the same time, the pallet industry is friendly. It is filled with amazing people who have leaped (nhảy vào) from many different fields including banking, investing, retail, manufacturing and even law.

If you are in a position to fleece (lừa đảo) someone in dire need of a receiver, do so. This is the time to get your trades in before your league deadline. If moving a receiver, if you have a surplus (dư thừa), to upgrade another position is possible, then absolutely do it. It’s a dog-eat-dog world in fantasy football.

There is a school of thought (ý kiến, nhận định) that views the business world as a dog-eat-dog world in which greedy (tham lam) people cut corners and do everything they can to make as much money as possible. While this might be true of some individuals in the world of business (including some who have received a good deal of publicity in recent years), that is not true of the entire business community.
