"Veg-out" = làm cho hả, trút ra hết -> nghĩa là thư giãn, tận hưởng.

Located in the tranquil Gated Bay Point Community, a small inlet to allow boats to pass by on its way out to sea seems incredibly relaxing. Of course, there's a pool and ample room outside for Meyers and Elle to veg out and play fetch with their dog, Koko.

Spend the night relishing the creature comforts of a home away from home at The Woods Farm of Jervis Bay. The cottage accommodation is ideal for families, with three bedrooms in each of the eight houses, plus a fully equipped kitchen and a lounge with a TV and Foxtel so you can really veg out on your last night in paradise. Oh, and there are plenty of farm animals around too!

That said, your boss isn’t wrong to think there’s some value in finding ways for your team to connect informally. There is value in that. The problem is the way he’s doing it — like making people feel obligated to show up and not noticing that you’re being excluded from much of the conversation. Implying that you can’t possibly have anything else you’d like to do with that time is particularly obnoxious (rất khó chịu, ghê tởm). As you point out, just because you’re stuck at home doesn’t mean you don’t have other demands on your time, and even if you didn’t, you’re still entitled to decide you’d rather veg out on your own than have to be “on” for a work call.
