"Blue plate special" nghĩa là gì?

"Blue plate special" = đặc sản (bày trên) đĩa xanh -> nghĩa là món ăn ngon được giảm giá, thay đổi theo ngày ở các quán ăn Mỹ và Canada giai đoạn những năm 1920 tới những năm 1950.

Ví dụ
John Miller will be in residency (phủ thống sứ) from July 23 through July 26, he will host classes and demonstrations. His Blue Plate Special is featured at the institute and will be until September 19.

The star of the menu is the Blue Plate Special, which rotates every weekday. Mondays it’s meatloaf (ổ mì thịt), Tuesdays it’s pot roast, Wednesdays it’s turkey and dressing, Thursdays it’s chicken and dumplings and Fridays it’s fried fish.

It’ll be the exact, $1.79 plate that it was in 1956: A thunderhead of mashed potatoes, green beans, and a chicken fried steak smothered (phủ kín) with cream gravy. Until the day’s end, the blue plate special will be the same as it ever was.

At all five Norma’s locations on June 23, the dine-in only blue plate specials — chicken-fried steak, meatloaf, and the chicken and dressing with mashed potatoes and green beans — will be $1.79.
