"Candid friend" nghĩa là gì?

"Candid friend" -> nghĩa (mỉa mai) là người làm ra vẻ bộc trực ngay thẳng nhưng dụng ý để nói xấu bạn.

Ví dụ
Irish Foreign Affairs minister Simon Coveney has described himself as a 'candid friend' of the United Kingdom - but raised (làm dấy lên) fresh questions around whether the British government can be trusted.

"I'm a candid friend of the UK. We need to fix this (the UK-Ireland relationship) now." In the same interview, Mr Coveney described as 'perverse nationalism' UK efforts to agree a trade deal with the US.

HNW advice is often a case of having a candid friend with talented confederates (liên minh): someone who knows what you should do, and who can help you do it, writes Elliot Wilson.

The latter (mới đây), a fundamentalist group, published it in two versions, a full-length one, and as a shortened pamphlet (sách mỏng) to be sold outside mosques (nhà thờ). The pamphlet’s editor, in his introduction, paid Mr. Lewis an austere (mộc mạc) compliment, one he considers among the finest he has received. He wrote this of the professor: “I don’t know who this man is. He is either a candid friend or an honest enemy, but in either case, one who refuses to deal in falsehoods.”
