"Cord-cutting" nghĩa là gì?

"Cord-cutting" có cord là dây diện -> từ này nghĩa là bỏ điện thoại cố định, truyền hình cáp truyền thống sang các loại hình giải trí mới hơn như internet, các thiết bị không dây.

Ví dụ
According to new forecast from Kagan, cord cutting is expected to carve approximately $33.6 billion out of U.S. pay TV revenues (thu nhập) over the next five years. The research company predicted (dự đoán) that U.S. pay TV providers would take in about $91.1 billion in revenues this year but that figure will dip to $64.7 billion by 2025.

For as long as cord-cutting has been a phenomenon (hiện tượng), one thing that has prevented many people from taking the plunge and getting rid of cable and other traditional pay-TV: The ability to watch local sports.

But if you’re a pure cord-cutter, subscribing (đăng ký) only to SVOD streaming services, there’s no way to get RSNs. Some of them, including the Bally Sports network, have made noises about launching a direct-to-consumer offering, but that has not happened yet, and it’s not clear how such a package would be priced.

As the price of cable TV continues to climb, it’s quickly become of interest to many more people. While that’s not a bad thing, it does mean people are approaching cord-cutting with widely varying levels of expertise. That in turn has led to lots of misconceptions about how it all works.
